Blizzard announced their newest game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. The title is a free-to-play collectable card game for PCs. This is the first free-to-play game from Blizzard, an avenue they said they have wanted to explore in the past.
As with most free-to-play games, there will be options to purchase additional card packs—which currently come in 5 cards per pack. At release, there will be 300 cards available. If you don’t want to shell out cash on another game, you can feel free to play “freemium” style, which will grant players the ability to earn points to purchase new card packs. For those that aren’t familiar with this concept, think League of Legends meets Magic with Blizzard juices flowing all through it.
This is a completely new concept for Blizzard, who have incredibly successful titles in RPG and Strategy games in the past (World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo.) Take a look at this hearthstone trailer
If you are interested in being a part of the beta testing, you can apply by opting in with your battle.net account. Of course we’ll be doing this too. We look forward to seeing you all in Hearthstone soon.
